Hello all!
Apologies for sending news of my Ottawa book launch to my entire mailing
list, but I've no way to tell where you're all located.
For those of you who live nearby, I want to pass along that we're having a party this
week for the release of my brand new novel,Under My Skin. We'll start the evening
off with a set of music (7 PM), after which I will speak for a bit, then sign books.
While I sign, Joel Hayward and Kyla Dowden will entertain us with more music.
There'll even be some light nibblies served. The café is licensed, so you
can buy the beverage of your choice. It's all happening in Ottawa's Chinatown on:
Thursday, March 15th, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Raw Sugar Café
692 Somerset Street West
Ottawa, ON
(613) 216-2850
For more details...
Raw Sugar is one block west of Bronson on the south side of the street. It's
a cool spot and kids are welcome. You can buy books right there, directly
from the author for a change! (Cash would be appreciated as we're not set up for credit or debit cards.)
So please join us if you can, even if you're not buying a book, to help us celebrate!
Only one
review has shown up so far, but I'm happy to see that it's a positive one.
For those of you who don't live in Canada, the hardcover is available through Amazon.ca, but
MaryAnn and I are almost ready to release it as an ebook on Amazon, B&N, etc. under my own
Triskell Press imprint.
That's right, we're joining the "indie" publishing bandwagon. We'll also get a trade pb
printed ASAP. With only the two of us working on this new venture it's taking
longer than we expected, but we're getting there.
As I mentioned previously, we're also working on getting my backlist into ebook
form as well, so for those of you who've been waiting on this, things
are under way. Thanks for your patience!

In other news, MaryAnn and I just started a Facebook group called "The Mythic Café,
with Charles de Lint & Company. Charles Vess and several other prominent people
have joined us and in the space of a few days we're nearing 600 members and
growing quickly.
It's so much more than any regular chatroom. Our guidelines keep it on the
topic of fantasy in the arts and the conversations have been wonderful.
Speaking of Charles Vess, I mentioned in my last newsletter that Little, Brown
asked me to write an additional 40,000 words to my previously published
picture book, A Circle of Cats. They also asked the illustrious Mr. Vess
to add 50 paintings to the new, expanded tale.
I had great fun giving Lillian new adventures in her beloved woods, and we named
the novel The Cats of Tanglewood Forest. While I'm unable to share any colour
art with you (LB wants us to save that for later) Charles Vess has been industriously
creating pencil sketches for his new paintings and what a pleasure it's been to have
these coming in daily.
Let me share one of my favourites, this being Lillian arrival in the valley of the
bear people.
The book is tentatively scheduled for January 2013.
Last, but not least, Eyes Like Leaves was reprinted in a beautiful trade pb edition
from Tachyon Publications, without all the typos and errors that plagued the first edition.

I was delighted to read this lovely review of it at i09:

That's all for now.
Thanks for all the encouragement and support you've given me over the years and may our paths meet in the not too distant future.
cheers
Charles
